Trucking is a side-mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Description[]

It is located at the RS Haul Depot in Flint County, just west of Los Santos and north of Helena Wankstein's Farm. The missions are activated by standing inside the red mission marker. The business generates $2,000 per day after completing all eight trucking missions. They become available after completing Catalina's mission, Tanker Commander, which features one of the depot's employees, Mr. Whittaker.

The missions consist of either delivering cargo within a time limit, delivering a fragile cargo without damaging it, or delivering an illegal cargo whilst being pursued by the police with a three or more star wanted level. The wanted level cannot be decreased even with police bribes or, if the player manages to get in, any Pay'n'Spray. If the player fails the mission, the wanted level will stay with the player but they can now use police bribes and spray shops, while passing the mission will automatically remove their wanted level.

The successive missions are increasingly difficult, with tighter time limits, more fragile cargo, or stronger police attention, while also covering a larger area of land to reach the destination. Leaving the cab or detaching the trailer for too long will result in mission failure. It is noteworthy that the last two missions cannot be started until the player completes Yay Ka-Boom-Boom, which is necessary to unlock access to Las Venturas.

Missions[]

There are a total of eight missions, getting increasingly more difficult as the player progresses. The maximum amount of money that can be earned from finishing all eight missions in a single run is $33,500. After completing a single run of missions, the player can return to replay the Trucking missions anytime, but they will be randomly ordered.

Mission 1[]

Regular Time (2 hours in-game) $1,000 Red County

Goods must be delivered quickly. The player starts with a maximum value of $1,000, with a time indicator telling when the player has to be at the destination. If the goods are late, cash will be cut in half and a second deadline time will be given. If it's missed, cash will be cut further in half. Miss the third deadline and the mission will be failed. The destination of the first mission will always be located in Red County, with the player usually taking the road near the depot heading north towards Blueberry, which is within East San Andreas.

Mission 2[]

Fragile Damage $1,500 Montgomery

Fragile goods must be delivered. The player starts with a maximum value of $1,500 and must try not to damage the cargo. A damage bar will record the amount of damage the truck and the cargo has received, decreasing the value as the bar depletes. Because this is the first of its kind of mission, the decrease of money will not be as drastic as the future damage missions. On this mission, the destination will always be further eastwards than the previous mission, namely somewhere within or near Montgomery, East San Andreas.

Mission 3[]

Illegal Heat (3 stars) $2,000 Los Santos:

Illegal goods must be delivered. The player starts with a fixed value of $2,000 (the value never decreases), but there will be a wanted level of three stars once the truck leaves the compound. Throughout the mission, the police will actively pursue the player's truck, as the wanted level itself cannot be decreased by any means, but it will disappear once the player successfully completes this mission. The delivery location is always within the southern parts of Los Santos.

Mission 4[]

Regular Time (5 hours in-game) $3,000 Rural Southwest San Andreas:

Similar to Mission 1, goods must be delivered quickly. The player starts with a maximum value of $3,000. Compared to the previous timed mission, there is a tighter delivery deadline and a longer distance, and passing the Flint Intersection, which is a necessity, can be especially frustrating, as the player can end up on the wrong side of the road if not careful. The delivery location is always situated within Whetstone, including Angel Pine.

Mission 5[]

Fragile Damage $4,000 San Fierro:

Similar to Mission 2, fragile goods must be delivered. The player starts with a maximum value of $4,000. Compared to the previous fragile goods mission, the cargo contains 'extremely fragile' goods, so extra caution must be taken when going through a tight corner and/or a crowded traffic, so as to also avoid accidentally detaching the trailer, and contact with a police vehicle must be avoided at all times too. The destination is always located in San Fierro.

Mission 6[]

Illegal Heat (3 stars) $5,000 West San Andreas:

Similar to Mission 3, illegal goods must be delivered. The player starts with a fixed value of $5,000 and will receive a three-star wanted level upon leaving the compound. Again, the player must watch out for the police coming in the way. The distance is also further than the previous illegal goods mission, with the delivery location randomly chosen from the possible destinations in the previous two missions, which can be confusing.

Mission 7[]

Fragile Time (9.5 hours in-game)
Damage
$7,000 Rural North San Andreas:

This is a combination of Missions 1 and 2, where fragile goods must be delivered quickly. The player starts with a maximum value of $7,000. This mission is arguably the hardest, as the player has to arrive at the destination as quickly as possible and not take damage at the same time. This will often result in lesser profits upon completion of the mission, unless the player is skilled enough to avoid damage to the truck. The location is situated within rural North San Andreas.

Mission 8[]

Trucking-GTASA-Mission8
Illegal Heat (4 stars) $10,000 Las Venturas:

This is basically similar to Missions 3 and 6, where illegal goods must be delivered. The player starts with a fixed value of $10,000. The cargo contains 'highly illegal' goods, so there will be a four-star wanted level instead of three stars in the previous illegal goods missions, and therefore more police in the way. The delivery destination is located in Las Venturas.

Trivia[]

  • All three variants of the Articulated Trailer will be paired with either a Linerunner or a Roadtrain, while the Tanker Trailer will always be paired with a Tanker.
  • When the player completes a trucking mission, the truck will be locked.
  • The design of the cargo that needs to be carried to the destination varies every time.
  • On some occasions, when the trailer is removed from the truck and is tilted upside-down, it explodes like a normal car, but does not appear to be damaged.
    • Due to a glitch, the trailer can randomly detach even on smooth roads at moderate speeds. The trailer catches fire and explodes afterwards. It's unknown what causes this.
    • In both cases, the mission ends in failure.
  • The "Mission Passed" theme song does not play when the player completes a trucking mission.
  • Unlike other missions or side missions in the remastered version, if the player fails this mission, the game will not ask the player whether to retry or not. The same goes for Quarry Missions.
