"Remember the kid who always had a multi-tool with him? Remember how popular he was, and how often he got laid? Well, if he had survived high school, there's only one set of keys he would have in his fanny pack: the Tula is a quad-prop monster with VTOL and water-landing capabilities, space for turrets and a bomb bay, and the capacity for JATO upgrades. Be Prepared.
Please note: This aircraft is excluded from Pegasus Lifestyle Management and must be stored in a personal hangar.

Warstock Cache & Carry description.

The Mammoth Tula is a V/STOL aircraft featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Smuggler's Run update.

Design

Grand Theft Auto Online

The Tula is prominently based on the Kaman K-16 (which is a modified VTOL Grumman G-21 Goose), seen in the fuselage, cockpit and landing gear arrangement, with the wings, four-engine layout and the tiltwing feature derived from the LTV XC-142, an experimetal V/STOL transport aircraft.

The Tula has sliding doors on either side for access and an open section in the back for the rear gunner. As an amphibious vehicle, the Tula features a boat-shaped hull and small hatches for the main gear wheels.

Performance

Grand Theft Auto Online

Despite the rather large size, the Tula possesses decent handling and speed, behaving like most vehicles of its type. However, it features a VTOL mode and aquatic landing capabilities, increasing its versatility when comes to landing the plane where other aircraft would normally have difficulty. The vehicle can also sport eight small JATO thrusters, which can be activated on ground, allowing the Tula to take-off quicker. However, being a medium-sized vehicle, it will have difficulties in tight areas and the size would make it an easy target for gunfire.

  • The vehicle features two nose-mounted machine guns that offers decent protection against oncoming aircraft, but would not have enough potential for direct engagements.
  • The rear gunner can use a mounted turret behind the wingspan, which offers limited angle of attack, but makes up for being effective against pursuing aircraft, especially in the hands of a skilled gunner. It can be either a single or dual Browning M2HB .50 caliber machine guns or a GAU-17/A six-barreled 7.62mm Minigun.
  • It also features a small bomb bay to deploy up to 50 bombs (if added via customization).

Trivia

General

  • Its name is a Spanish slang term for "dick" or "cock" in some Latin American countries, another nod to Rockstar's sexual humour.

Grand Theft Auto Online

  • If a pilot leaves the plane while on vertical flight mode and an occupant takes control of it, the wings will instantly go back to horizontal flight mode.
  • Likely as a result of balance or easier usage, the rear gun's rounds does not affect the rear stabilizers.
  • The Rockstar Games Social Club image shows a Tula with the N.O.O.S.E. livery. However, instead of being labeled as NOOSE (National Office of Security Enforcement), it is labeled as LSAF (Los Santos Air Force) and the emblem on its left wing was missing. The tail seems to retain the NOOSE stencil as in the final version of the livery.
