A Wanted Level in Grand Theft Auto V is a measure of how much the player is wanted by the Los Santos Police Department and other Law Enforcements. Not like the previous games GTA V's wanted level has a five star wanted raking, ranking police lethality from the non-lethal one star to the extremely aggressive five stars.

Three Stars

A three-star wanted level is given when the player kills a police officer or tresspasses in the Los Santos International Airport. In a three-star wanted level:

  • Police cruisers are more aggresive: will ram the player's vehicle.
  • Police roadblocks are set up.
  • Officers now shoot to kill.
  • A police helicopter will chase the player; equipped with two assault rifle bearing sharpshooters.
  • A larger pursuit.

Vehicles: Police Cruiser, Police Transporter, Police Maverick, Sheriff Cruiser, Police Predator

Four Stars

A continued three-star pursuit will eventually become a four-star pursuit. The player, however, can automatically initiate a four-star pursuit by trespassing in the Zancudo Army Base or the Humane Research Company.

  • FIB agents, as well as police officers, now pursue the player.
  • Police officers arive heavily armed, and hang off the running boards of FIB vehicles.
  • Passenger FIB agents in an FIB Cruiser fire out the windows.
  • Tear gas is used by agents.
  • Helicopter sharpshooters rappel down and engage in the fight.
  • A larger pursuit.

Vehicles: Police Cruiser, Police Transporter, Police Maverick, FIB Cruiser, FIB SUV, Sheriff Cruiser, Sheriff SUV, Police Predator.

Five Stars

A continued pursuit with four-stars will eventually give the player a five-star wanted level.

  • Random NOOSE roadblocks
  • Multiple helicopters simultaneously pursue player
  • Police and FIB try to disable player's vehicle.

Vehicles: Police Cruiser, Police Transporter, Maverick, FIB Cruiser, FIB SUV, Sheriff Cruiser, Sherrif SUV, Police Riot, Police Predator.
