Winston Henry is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series who appears as one of the selectable protagonists in Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 and Grand Theft Auto: London 1961.
History[]
Background[]
For an overview on the GTA London Protagonist's entire history and plot details, see here.
As the game follows one storyline, if Winston is chosen as the protagonist, he will follow the same story as the other selectable protagonists, including committing the same crimes and murders, and having the same relationships with the Crisp Twins, Jack Parkinson, Harold Cartwright and Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Henry's attire is an apparent nod to the Rudeboy sub-culture popular with West Indian British youth in the 1960s, donning a trilby as well as featuring a turtleneck and sideburns.
Winston's skin is shaded in his picture, suggesting that he is black or mixed-race. This correlates well with his characterisation as a Rudeboy. The first name "Winston" was common among Afro-Caribbean immigrants to Britain long after it fell out of favour among whites, and it was for a long time a stereotypically "black" name. He can't be selected in the German version.
The only difference between Winston and the other protagonists is the in-game appearance (clothes, hair and skin). Like the other protagonists, he wears bell-bottom pants during his GTA London 1969 appearance.
Also like the other protagonists, Winston Henry's default name can be changed by the player on the character selection menu. This feature is also used to activate cheat codes in the game.

Trivia[]
- Winston Henry along with the other GTA London Protagonists and Franklin Clinton are currently the only protagonists in the series who appear as playable characters during the storyline of two different Grand Theft Auto titles.
- According to a January 2001 exclusive Grand Theft Auto III world premiere found in PlayStation 2 Official Magazine (UK) Issue 3, Dan Houser had plans to bring back some of the characters from GTA London to the 3D Universe. However, it is unknown if he was referring to the GTA London Protagonists.
